Yoga means union or to yoke together. It seeks to unify the mind, body and spirit through physical movement and breath. Yoga is a spiritual discipline much like fasting, meditation, and prayer that cannot be owned by one specific religion. There is often a misunderstanding that yoga is a religion; it is not. While yoga predates Hinduism, Hindus were the first to give yoga a written structure. Increased strength and flexibility, improved posture and balance, treating illnesses including: anxiety, depression, blood pressure, circulatory problems and asthma are all benefits of yoga, just to name a few.

Stillwater Studio, located in the historical downtown Brookhaven, exudes peace and calmness with its beautiful hardwood floors and windows that fill the room with natural light. Our mission is to provide a haven for yoga practice, a place of restoration and a break away from the fast paced lifestyle. We welcome you to come be still, breathe and become a healthier you.

Studio Owner and instructor, Betsy Belk, received her R-HYI (225 hr.) certification through Holy Yoga Ministries, in May of 2014. She has enjoyed practicing yoga and receiving the benefits from it physically, mentally and spiritually since 2011. She will be teaching a variety of classes this fall. As a Christian who depends on God,  Betsy longs to reach all of her students on a physical, mental and spiritual level, meeting them right where they are, no matter what religion, gender, age, race or lifestyle. All are welcomed with love and acceptance at Stillwater Studio.

Instructors, Cheryl Myers and Cassie Martin, are also offering classes and we could not be more thankful for the talent and skill they both bring to the studio. Cheryl began practicing yoga over a decade ago and has experienced the growth and restoration her practice has brought into her mind, body and spirit. She enthusiastically shares her love for yoga with her students through well thought out class sequences that both challenge and grow her student's practices.  Cheryl is certified by Joyflow Yoga and has been teaching for two years. Cassie has been practicing various forms of yoga for seven years. She will be completing her certification training in December of 2018 and is excited to be the newest addition to the Stillwater team.
